Super Dou

Seed beads are now being made in very interesting shapes. The challenge is to make a pattern out of these unique shaped beads. I recently ordered some beads call super duo's from Art Beads. They are egg shaped and 2.5 x 5mm in size. A unique feature of super duo's is that they have two holes in each bead instead of the traditional one. They come in great colors and the bead magazines are featuring the beads in numerous projects.

My beading friend Kim inspired me to try my hand at these beads. She showed me a pattern by Mary Lindell called Super Duo Rope. She was working on this pattern and the beaded rope had the same look you get when you crochet beads. Kim was my inspiration to try this stitch and I am very pleased with the  outcome.

I made the pendant from some Czech beads I had in my stash. I used a hammered washer as the link to attach the pendant to the rope. I used copper end caps which had a clasp attached to finish off the ends. I really like this look and will look for more clasps like it at the Intergalactic Bead show next weekend. I am sure to run into Kim there as she is just as hooked as I am in finding new and different seed beads at this show.   L
